The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore has recently announced nine students as recipients of four local scholarships. Over 300 scholarships totaling more than $350,000 have been awarded to deserving local students throughout the three county region. These scholarships are made possible through permanent endowment funds held at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. Eligibility varies by fund, but interested applicants can learn more at cfes.org.
VFW Eastside Memorial Post 2996 Scholarship
Chan “Peter” Kim and Megan Rickards, graduates of Wicomico High School, and Leslie Lopez, a graduate of Parkside High School, each received scholarships from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s VFW Eastside Memorial Post 2996 Scholarship. Peter will attend Salisbury University, Megan will attend Wor-Wic Community College, and Leslie will attend Drexel University. Since its inception in 1997, the VFW Eastside Memorial Post 2996 Scholarship has awarded 43 scholarships totaling $44,395 to deserving local students.

VFW Eastside Memorial Post 2996 Scholarship
A. Asbury & Donna Morgan Parks Scholarship
Allyson McCullough, Blair Hancock, Arielle Johnston, and Hailie Brumley of Crisfield High School each received the A. Asbury and Donna Morgan Parks Scholarship at the Crisfield High School Senior Awards Ceremony in May. The scholarship was established to support students who are seeking a career in business or health care.

Purnell D. White Memorial Scholarship Fund
Awarded to Parkside High School Student Tiffany Pham, a graduate of Parkside High School, is congratulated by Steve White and Ron Peterman for earning the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s Purnell D. White Memorial Scholarship. Tiffany will attend Princeton University in the fall. The scholarship was established by to support students who are pursuing a college degree in agriculture or a related field.

The Louise Smith Scholarship
Hannah Insley is the recipient of The Louise Smith Scholarship. She attended Mardela Middle & High School and has been accepted into Salisbury University’s pre-nursing program. The Louise Smith Scholarship is awarded to residents of Wicomico County who attended a public high school and are active members of a Methodist church.
