"FOR YOUTH BY YOUTH"
The mission of the Youth Foundation Fund is to help children in the Maryland counties of Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester by creating awareness and understanding of philanthropy and by supporting organizations that promote and support youth. The Youth Foundation Fund was started in 1999 by local student Sheila Chandrasekhara to address the growing problems that children are facing every day.
The Youth Foundation Fund Advisory Committee is comprised of representatives from local high schools, public and private, in the tri-county area. This committee plans and implements fundraising and grant making activities by:
- Conducting annual fundraising activities
- Becoming aware of community needs
- Supporting local projects through an annual grant program (deadline each spring)
- Participating in local service projects
