  • Sharon Dickson

    Sharon L. Dickson, CPA

    Finance Officer

    Sharon has served as the Finance Officer at the Foundation since March 2012. She provides staff support for the accounting functions of the Foundation, prepares the Foundation’s external financial statements, and helps assure that all national standards for accountability and accuracy are met. In addition, Sharon conducts analysis for internal and external users.

    Sharon has more than 20 years of accounting and management experience including public and private corporations, non-profit organizations, and public accounting. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She is certified in the MicroEdge FIMS foundation management software.

    Sharon and her family live in Salisbury.

  • Erica Joseph-new2

    Erica N. Joseph

    Vice President, Community Investment

    Erica joined the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore in 2003 and served as Program & Development Director until 2013. Erica’s current role as Vice President, Community Investment is twofold, as Program Director, she facilitates all discretionary grant programs and supervises the Eastern Shore Nonprofit Support Center; serving as a liaison to connect local nonprofits to financial support, technical assistance resources, and education/networking opportunities. As Development Director, she works to engage donors and prospective donors and encourage new funds and gifts to the Foundation.

    She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Salisbury University and a Master of Science in Conservation Biology from the University of Maryland College Park. Erica is a member of the Rotary Club of Salisbury – Sunrise, the Delmarva Planned Giving Council, the Maryland Volunteer Center Association, and serves on the Steering Committee for the Maryland Community Foundation Association.

    Erica resides with her husband, Jeremy, and son, Andrew.

    Controller

    David serves as the Controller for the Foundation. As the Controller he is responsible for the Foundation’s financial, investment, human resources, information systems, and facilities management. He is also responsible for helping asure that all national standards for accountability and accuracy are met and conducting analysis for internal and external users. David previously served as the Accountant at the Foundation. He is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants.  In 2013 he was appointed by the Salisbury Mayor and City Council to the City Park Committee, and currently serves as its Secretary.

    David received his Bachelors of Science degree from Salisbury University’s Perdue School of Business and his Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Financial Management from University of Maryland University College. He is currently working toward his Masters of Science in Financial Management. He is certified in the Microedge FIMS foundation management software.

    David is a native of Salisbury, MD.  He and his wife, Ashlee, sons Liam & Kieran, and daughter Josephine, live in Salisbury.

    Marketing and Public Relations Officer

    Anne joined the Community Foundation in 2010. In her role as Marketing and Public Relations Officer, Anne is charged with developing the Foundation’s annual marketing plan, producing the Pillar newsletter and the organization’s annual report, as well as coordination of media coverage for grant and service programs.

    Anne brings to the position over 20 years of public relations and marketing experience in the nonprofit, retail, corporate, and government sectors.

    She holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Advertising from Arizona State University.

    Anne and her husband Shawn live in Salisbury.

  • Patt Straussburg

    Patt has served as Office Administrator since August 2003. She is responsible for providing administrative and financial support for the daily operations of the Foundation, including assistance with special events and projects.

    Patt and her husband, Wayne, have lived in Salisbury the past 11 years. Previously from Bel Air, Maryland, they have two sons, Ryan and Todd and two granddaughters, Hayden and Ellis.

  • BJ Summers

    Elizabeth “B.J.” Summers

    Director, Development and Philanthropic Services

    BJ joined the Community Foundation in October 1997. In her role as Director, Development and Philanthropic Services, she manages the donor relations program of the Foundation, working with donors to help identify their philanthropic interests and facilitate their charitable interests. She supports the Foundation’s giving strategies, asset development, donor-prospecting-cultivation-recognition, and awareness building.  She also manages the Scholarship program, Legacy Society, and works closely with the VP of Community Investment to manage the Women’s Fund Program.

    BJ resides in Salisbury with her husband Denny.

  • Heather Towers

    Program Officer

    Heather currently is the Program Officer for the Foundation. She is responsible for supporting the Foundation’s discretionary grant making and is the ShoreCAN Volunteer Center Coordinator.

    Previously, Heather performed national service with the Americorps Vista program as the ShoreCAN Volunteer Center Coordinator, which builds capacity in non-profit organizations and communities and fights to end poverty.

    Heather received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies in 2012 from Salisbury University’s Fulton School of Liberal Arts. Heather is a native of Salisbury who loves to travel and has visited several countries. She currently dedicates her volunteering efforts to at risk youth and is a mentor through the Big Brother Big Sister program.

    Dr. Doug Wilson

    President & CEO

    Doug has served as the President & CEO of the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore since 2012.

    Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Doug spent 30 years as a member of the leadership team at Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he served as the Executive Director of Strategy and Market Development.

    Doug holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Science from Texas A & M University and a Doctorate in Business Administration from Southwest University. Doug is responsible for the overall operation of the Community Foundation and is proud of the team that works tirelessly in support of all the donors, nonprofit organizations, and volunteers from throughout the 3 lower shore counties.  CFES is the second largest Community Foundation in Maryland by total asset size.

    Doug resides with his wife, Patty, in Salisbury
